Terms of service
These terms cover your use of this website and any order you place through it. Please read them. By placing an order you accept them.
1. Who we are
This site is operated by The Trading Card Standard Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17421545, whose registered office is at 7 Trem Elai, Penarth, CF64 1TB. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean that company. "You" means the person placing the order.

2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to place an order. We sell to consumers and to trade. If you are buying in the course of a business, the consumer cancellation rights in our Returns policy do not apply to you.
3. Products, descriptions and images
We describe every product as accurately as we can. Photographs of sealed product are the publisher's or distributor's images and show the product type, not the individual unit you will receive. Photographs of singles and graded cards are of the actual item.
Card condition on singles is assessed by hand against our published condition standard. It is an honest opinion arrived at consistently, not a certified grade.
Pull rates and the contents of sealed product are determined by the manufacturer. We make no representation about what any pack, box or case contains.
4. Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you a dispatch confirmation. Until then we may decline the order — for example if the item is out of stock, if we identify a pricing error, or if we cannot verify payment.
Pricing errors. If a product is listed at an obviously wrong price and you could reasonably have realised it was wrong, we do not have to sell it to you at that price. We will contact you, and you can confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Stock. Stock levels are shown in good faith but can move between your order and our picking it. If we cannot fulfil an item we will tell you and refund it.
5. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling. The Trading Card Standard Ltd is not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged and we cannot issue VAT invoices. Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout before you pay.
Payment is taken at the point of order, including on preorders, unless the product page says otherwise. We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. We do not store your card details; payments are handled by our payment providers.
6. Preorders
Preorder release dates are set by the publisher and are estimates. They move, sometimes more than once, and sometimes a product is cancelled or its contents change before release. None of that is within our control.
You can cancel a preorder for a full refund at any time before dispatch. If a release is cancelled or we cannot obtain the product, we refund you in full.
Preorder allocations are limited. We may cap quantities per customer, and we may cancel orders that appear to be attempts to get round a cap.
7. Delivery and risk
Delivery terms are in our Shipping policy. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes when we have received payment in full.
8. Returns
Your cancellation and refund rights are set out in full in our Returns & Refunds policy, which forms part of these terms.
9. Authenticity
Everything we sell is genuine product sourced through legitimate channels. If you ever receive something from us that is not, tell us and we will refund you in full, including postage both ways, without argument.
10. Acceptable use of this site
Do not use this site to do anything unlawful, do not attempt to interfere with it or gain unauthorised access to it, and do not scrape it or use automated tools to place orders or harvest content.
11. Accounts
If you create an account, keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
12. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, or — if you are buying as a business — for loss of profit, loss of business or any indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the price you paid for the goods in question.
We do not accept liability for the future market value of any card or sealed product. Trading cards are collectables. Their value can fall as well as rise, and nothing on this site is investment advice.
13. Intellectual property
The content of this site — text, layout, our photography and our branding — belongs to us. Product names, logos and card imagery belong to their respective rights holders. The Trading Card Standard is an independent retailer and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc., Bandai Namco, Ravensburger, Disney, Riot Games or any other publisher whose products we sell.
14. Changes
We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the version on the site at the time you place it.
15. Complaints
Email thetradingcardstandard@outlook.com. We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and resolve within 14. If we cannot resolve it between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme; we will tell you if one applies.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
