How to photograph a single card
We grade centering, surface, edges and corners from your photos, so this genuinely changes the price we can offer.
-
Front, flat, no sleeve
Card out of the sleeve, face up on a plain flat surface. -
Back, same again
Turn it over and take a second shot the same way. -
Not in a sleeve
Sleeves and toploaders hide edge wear and scratches. -
Not at an angle
Shoot straight down. An angle makes centering impossible to judge. -
No flash or glare
A bright band across the card hides surface scratches and print lines. -
Not small or blurry
Fill the frame and tap to focus. All four corners must be visible.
If we can't see the card properly we have to price cautiously, which means a lower offer — or we'll just ask you to send the photos again. Two good photos are worth more to you than ten rushed ones.
What we check on sealed product
Sealed is priced differently, because what matters is that it is untouched.
- The factory seal. Original shrink, original seams, no signs of resealing or a re-wrap.
- Box condition. Crushed or soft corners, dents, splits, shelf wear and sun fading all affect the price.
- Product code and barcode. So we can confirm the exact set, print and region.
- Region and language. English and Japanese print runs are priced separately.
- Cases. If it's a sealed case, we want to see the case seal intact — an unopened case is worth more than the boxes inside it.
If a box has been opened and resealed, we would rather you told us up front. We will still buy it; we just price it as opened.
